At Anthony Clifford Studios we have a strong tradition in teacher training and and we are pleased now to have become an ISTD Approved Dance Centre capable of offering the new teacher training exams.

Foundation in Dance Instruction (FDI) and Certificate in Dance Education (CDE) have now replaced the Associate qualification and we can offer this exam in the following genre:

Tap, Modern, Latin American, Ballroom, Disco Freestyle and Line Dancing.

Suitable candidates should have reached the age of at least 17 and have reached the required technical standard of dance themselves. At present this means that to enter the FDI you will need to produce your Intermediate certificate and for CDE you will need the Advanced 1 exam certificate.

If the vocational graded exams have not yet been passed then we can also offer these classes at ACDS.

Student teachers will need, as part of their training, to watch senior teachers at work here or at another dance school, affiliated to the centre. They will learn to assess classes and in this way we hope they will be able to more easily apply their new knowledge.

For more information contact the principal direct or consult the ISTD web site www.istd.org

These units are taught via personal or group tutorials by appointment and are paid for at the private lesson rate. The number of tutorials required will be different for each candidate.
The candidate arranges to watch classes at the Centre or Affiliated School in advance of the lessons over a period of several weeks / months.
When teaching practice is undertaken in CDE the candidate will be assessed teaching their own students by their Tutor, again over a period of weeks or months, culminating in their final teaching assessment.
